This is the actual canyon that the Astronaut is heading for in Last Flight. It's quite large. As Adam remarked, you can see why someone would bother making the trip to see it. From the ground it must be spectacular.

In the Magimation TV series Maori on Mars, the Maoris have there secret martian base located in the walls of this canyon.
I think the Maori on Mars is still in production. We've printed a bit of promotional material for it at work -- so I've seen some stills and sketches. The characters look very CGI, but the aircraft have a nice 1950s retro look to them.
Become part of the virtual film crew for Last Flight: We’re making a short science fiction film set on Mars – about the last woman alive - - and 20 minutes of air.
Take a look around the blog, read the script - and if you've got an idea to help us improve the film... Let us know! If we like it, we'll even put your name in the credits.

Have you seen it? I heard about the show, but I've never seen it anywhere...
